Manny Pacquiao recalled his past boxing matches and his presidential candidacy in an episode of 'Knowing Bros' along with Sandara Park
Boxing legend-turned-politician Manny Pacquiao won the hearts of Korean fans when he appeared in a recent episode of comedy variety show Knowing Bros.
In an episode highlight clip from Knowing Bros, the program welcomed the People's Champ and showed his humble beginnings as a Gen San boxer before he became a world boxing icon.
Korean star Sandara Park also appeared alongside Manny.
He said, "Pumunta ako rito para i-promote 'yung exhibition match ko this coming December 11.
"Mahirap, malakas din ang mga matatanggap mong suntok," he added, describing the difficulties of boxing.
At one point during the episode, one of the hosts Lee Soo-geun told Manny, "I love you, I respect you," and later on shook his hand.
Manny also recalled his past match with former American professional boxer Oscar dela Hoya.
"Kasi akala nila dahil mas maliit ako kay [Oscar] dela Hoya, baka masaktan ako. Pero sabi ko, 'Kaya ko.'
"They were thinking na baka masaktan lang ako dahil maliit ako."
He revealed, "Actually maraming hindi naniwala na mananalo ako kay dela Hoya, maraming nag-doubt sa akin but I proved it to them. Pinatunayan ko sa kanila."
He also admitted that he was not in favor at first of his son Jimuel Pacquiao's venture into boxing.
"Nandoon siya sa L.A. ngayon nakatira kasi nag-ba-boxing [siya]," Manny said.
"From the beginning ayaw ko mag-boxing [sila].
"Pero gusto niya [Jimuel] talaga mag-boxing kaya pinapayagan ko na lang," he explained.
His political pursuits were also tackled, and the boxer politician shared his goals about running for office.
Asked about his 2022 presidential candidacy, Manny said, "Sumali ako dahil gusto kong disiplinahin 'yung mga tao pagdating sa korapsyon.
"Gusto kong sugpuin ang korupsyon at umunlad 'yung bansa natin.
Sandara asked, "May balak ka ba sumali ulit?"
"Meron pa rin. 'Yung passion ko makatulong ulit, madisiplina 'yung mga tao, [nandoon pa rin]," Manny answered.
Before showing off his sparring techniques to the show hosts, Manny gave details about the charity exhibition match he is participating in this December, where he will face Korean YouTuber and MMA fighter DK Yoo.
"Ang magiging income nito pagtulong sa mga naapektuhan sa war against Ukraine and Russia. And also magbibigay tayo ng libreng bahay at lupa sa Pilipinas."
Aside from Knowing Bros, Manny was also a guest on comedy variety show Running Man.
