Binibining Pilipinas International Hannah Arnold gets a send-off ceremony from the DOST

By Ron Lim

The competition is getting closer for Binibining Pilipinas International Hannah Arnold as she gets a send-off ceremony from the Department of Science and Technology as she prepares for the Miss International pageant to be held in Japan next month.

Hannah - who holds a degree in Applied Science in Forensic Studies from the University of Canberra - posted several pictures on her Instagram account, calling the send off “beautiful and heartwarming” and sharing that she was “teary-eyed” recalling the events and discussions she's taken part in at the department during the past few months.

She also wrote in the caption that pageantry has allowed her to excel in other environments and advocate for causes close to her heart, and she promised to raise the flag not only of the country but science and technology as well.

Hannah will be competing for the Miss International crown this December 13, hoping to give the country its fourth Miss International crown after Precious Lara Quigaman, Bea Santiago, and Kylie Verzosa.

But before Hannah's competition, pageant watchers are looking at Herlene Budol, who recently arrived in Uganda to compete for the Miss Planet International crown.

Herlene has already put up several posts on her Instagram account, including videos of her with Ugandan schoolchildren, a photo of her in her gown for the pageant, as well as shouting out a Filipina YouTuber based in Uganda who took care of Herlene's team upon arrival in the African nation.

Herlene is aiming to bring home the country's first Miss Planet International crown, with the pageant's coronation night set on November 19. The Miss Planet International pageant advocates for the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as well as preservation of the planet. The upcoming coronation night is only the second to be held.

The Binibining Pilipinas organization had previously called on pageant fans and followers to support Herlene's Miss Planet International bid with a supportive Instagram post.

The Miss International and Miss Planet International crowns are some of the remaining titles that the country can compete for, after the Binibining Pilipinas organization recently announced that they would be withdrawing from the Miss Grand International.
