Juancho Trivino

How does 'Maria Clara at Ibarra' actor Juancho Trivino feel after winning his first acting award?

Kapuso actor Juancho Trivino, who's been in the industry for 10 years, could not help but feel overwhelmed after receiving his first acting award---an international award at that!--- in the beginning of the year.

In case you missed it, Juancho won the Best Supporting Actor award from the 2022 TAG Awards Chicago for his role as the villainous Padre Salvi in the hit fantasy-portal series Maria Clara at Ibarra.

In an interview on Unang Hirit, the actor said that despite having already done a lot of different projects in his career, he did not expect the kind of reception he and his character received from the audience.

“Never at this scale.

“Hindi ko in-expect kasi nag primetime na rin ako before and it is different,” he said.

He added, “It's a lot different yung attention, 'tsaka yung nakukuha namin dito as a whole is totally different talaga.”

Juancho first announced his nomination in a tweet, calling on everyone to vote for him so that he can "brag" about it to his neighbors.

“Iboto ninyo na ako para ipagmalaki ko naman sa kapitbahay ko, ayaw nila maniwala eh,” he tweeted in jest.

Then on December 31, during the awards night held in Chicago, it was announced that the Maria Clara at Ibarra actor won the award.

Juancho shared that he felt honored to receive such a recognition.

“Di ko alam kung paano sasabihin na maniniwala kayo, pero honored ako na nakatangap na ko finally ng award for this role -- after 10 years in the industry,” he captioned a post on Instagram.

In a previous interview, Juancho admitted that portraying the role of Padre Salvi was “probably the most fun I've had ever."
