Is BLACKPINK leaving YG Entertainment?

In light of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK's upcoming contract renewal with YG Entertainment this August, many have been wondering if the girls are actually renewing their contracts or are they parting ways with their label?

On January 19, South Korea's NH Investment & Securities predicted BLACKPINK would renew its contract with the label in its analyst report.

However, according to a report from Munhwa Ilbo on January 23, YG Entertainment needs to step up its contract for BLACKPINK as the members are being offered much higher guarantees elsewhere.

A report from Allkpop said that an industry insider said Lisa is getting an offer of 100 billion KRW to move to another label, the generous rumored offer is a far cry from what YG Entertainment is known to offer.

Should the BLACKPINK members leave YG Entertainment, they might need to make some changes regarding the group's name which is said to be copyrighted by YG Entertainment.

BLACKPINK members will not simply move with money if they want to continue using the group's name BLACKPINK.

In December 2022, YG Entertainment released a brief statement to Naver News claiming the rumors of BLACKPINK leaving YG Entertainment are groundless.

Currently, BLACKPINK is on their “Born Pink World Tour.” They are scheduled to perform at the Philippine Arena on March 25 and 26. They are also headlining Coachella 2023 in April, making them the first K-pop band to headline the music festival.
