Nic Chien nang malaman ang paghihiwalay ng mga magulang: "I found out in terrible way."
Ikinuwento ni Nic Chien kung paano niya nalaman ang paghihiwalay ng kanyang mga magulang na sina Lea Salonga at Robert Chien.
Ayon kay Nic, 14 years old siya nang malaman ang paghihiwalay ng kanyang mga magulang sa komento ng isang netizen sa kanyang Instagram account.
"Some terrible fan had-- Some 'lovely person' went to the comments and was like, in all caps, 'Nicole, I'm so sorry that your parents are divorced. God bless your mom. I'm so sorry.' What the hell! And I had no idea that they were split," kuwento ni Nic sa interview sa Fast Talk with Boy Abunda noong Biyernes, March 20.
"And I was like bawling my eyes out, and my boyfriend at that time, and one of my best friends was like, 'What's wrong with you?'”
“The next day, I talked to my dad about this and I texted my dad and I'm like, 'What's going on?' And he was like, 'I'm very sorry that you had to find out like that. But yes, me and your mom are separated. And we want you to know that it was very hard. The conversation was long and very difficult for both of us. And it's not your fault.'"
Nang tanungin kung kumusta ang relationship niya sa kanyang ama, sagot ni Nic, "great."
"Great," muling sagot ni Nic nang tanungin kung kumusta ang relasyon ng kanyang mga magulang.
Pagpapatuloy niya, "It's fine. Even as a kid, I had a feeling that my parents were not as affectionate toward each other. I noticed that. I thought it was normal because that's all I knew. But when you see your friends' parents kiss each other, hold each other in certain ways. and you see your parents not really do that so much, you know."
Ipinarating din ni Nic ang gustong sabihin sa kanyang stepmom, na inilarawan niya bilang "wonderful lady."
"And my dad... and my stepmom is a wonderful lady. And I'm so glad that this is on TV. I wanna say this for the record, she's a wonderful lady. And I care about her and I love her. And my dad and her make a lovely couple.
"I just want my dad to be happy, and I just want my mom to be happy. And they're very happy separated."
