Nic Chien warmed hearts online after posting a touching birthday message for their mom, theaer star Lea Salonga.

On Instagram, Nic shared a heartfelt greeting dedicated to the acclaimed Filipina performer. “Happy Birthday @msleasalonga!!!” the post began.

Nic then expressed deep appreciation for their mom, writing, “I love you so much Momma. I honestly don't think I could've asked for a better momma in the world; and I thank my lucky stars that you ended up being my mom whenever I can.”

The message concluded with another sweet note for the birthday celebrant: “Happy happy birthday momma, I love you :)”

Fans quickly filled the comments with warm wishes for Lea, who is known internationally for her work on Broadway and the West End, as well as for lending her voice to iconic Disney characters and her celebrated music career.

Earlier this February, Nic reflected on his transition in an interview with Korina Sanchez, where he talked about undergoing hormonal therapy and chest masculinization surgery, as well as the strong support he has received from his family.

During the interview, Nic recalled that his mother, Lea Salonga, stood by his decisions from the very beginning. In fact, she allowed him to start hormonal therapy even before he portrayed Jack in the Philippine staging of Into the Woods, despite knowing the treatment could potentially affect his voice and appearance.

Nic also shared that he had been going through severe mental fatigue and gender dysphoria at the time, which made prioritizing his well-being important. Nearly a year since beginning hormonal therapy, he said both of his parents continue to support him and his journey, even after their separation.
