Before Gloc-9 the critically-acclaimed rapper, there was Aristotle Pollisco, who dreamed of becoming a nurse to help others while earning a living to provide for his loved ones.

His love of music ultimately prevailed and Gloc-9 would make a name for himself as one of the most prolific rappers and songwriters in the local music scene.

In a recent Instagram post, Gloc-9 looked back on the day he earned his nursing diploma in between odd jobs and creating music.

“[Eleven] years ago today nag-graduate ako sa kursong Nursing kahit napalapit ako sa propesyong ito dahil sa puso at koneksyon mo sa tao mas pinili ko parin ang rap,” he wrote.

The post was accompanied by a graduation photo of the rapper wearing a graduation robe and toga.

“Napatunayan ko din na kung mahal mo ang pipiliin mo hindi ka magkakamali,” he added.

He, however, hinted at the possibility of practicing his nursing degree in the future.

“Pero alam ko din na hindi ako habang buhay magra-rap. Darating din ang araw na babalik din ako sa kung ano ang tinapos ko.

“Kung mangyayare man yun gusto kong magpasalamat ng lubos dahil tinupad ninyo ang pangarap ko.”

Gloc-9, who is known for tackling social issues through his songs, is behind the hits “Lando,” “Upuan,” “Sirena,” and “Magda.”

He has collaborated with many OPM greats including Francis Magalona, Noel Cabangon, Ebe Dancel, and Rico Blanco.

Last year, Kapuso singer Julie Anne San Jose worked with Gloc-9 for the song “Bahaghari.” The track debuted on the top spot of iTunes PH's All Genres Chart in July.
