OPM icon Ogie Alcasid recently took to social media to honor his longtime friend and comedic partner Michael V. on his birthday this December 17.
He called Bitoy his “brother,” a "genius,” and a pioneer in comedy and directing. Beyond the laughs, Ogie's message celebrated Bitoy's status as an "OG" whose creative brilliance has shaped Filipino pop culture for decades.
“Ang aking kapatid. Henyo s'ya kung tawagin sa larangan ng komedya at OG sa pagsusulat ng script at pagdidirek,” he wrote in the caption.
More than just a comedic icon, Bitoy was also celebrated by Ogie for his exceptional character. He noted that while the world sees a star, he sees a "loyal friend" and a family-oriented man who excels as a husband and parent.
“Para sa akin, bukod sa lahat ng kanyang kahanga- hangang katangian, siya ay mapagmahal na ama, asawa at anak. Tapat na kaibigan at maasahan sa lahat ng pagkakataon,” Ogie wrote.
"We celebrate you, Bitoy, and all that you do to give us joy. Love you, bro, and happiest bday!" he added.
From their early days as a powerhouse comedy team in GMA's Bubble Gang to their current roles on different networks, the bond between Ogie and Michael has never wavered.
Together, the duo created generation-defining characters, most notably the bratty “Angelina” and her long-suffering “Yaya,” as well as the viral "Boy Pick-Up" segments. Their undeniable chemistry led to several box-office hits, including Yaya and Angelina: The Spoiled Brat Movie, proving their legacy as one of the most successful comedic pairings in Philippine history.
