Miss Universe Côte d'Ivoire Olivia Yace is stepping back from her role as Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, less than a week after she was awarded the title.
In one of the more recent posts on her Instagram account, Olivia uploaded a lengthy statement explaining her decision. In it, she wrote that she has to resign from the title of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania to stand true to her values of “respect, dignity, excellence, and equal opportunity”.
According to Olivia, stepping aside form the “diminished role” of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania will allow her to dedicate herself fully to defending the values she holds dear. She also called on Black, African, Caribbean, American, and Afro-descendant communities to continue entering spaces where they are not expected and to never let anyone define who they are or limit their potential.
She then expressed her gratitude to her supporters and the “unforgettable experiences” that have shaped her” before declaring that she will continue her journey differently, “with the same determination to uplift and inspire.”
The COMICI (Miss Côte d'Ivoire Committee) also made the same announcement on the official Miss Côte d'Ivoire Facebook page, writing in both French and English that Olivia has withdrawn from the Miss Universe Africa and Oceania title for “personal reasons”.
The 2025 Miss Universe pageant conclude with Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch winning the crown, and Philippine representative Ahtisa Manalo ending as third runner-up.

Ahtisa arrived in the Philippines earlier today after her initial arrival was rescheduled due to “recent adjustments”.
