OPM and the P-pop industry continue to rise and make their mark on the global music stage, with several Filipino artists gaining international recognition. Among them is alternative/city pop singer-songwriter Maki, who recently topped the inaugural Billboard Philippines Hot 100 Chart with his viral hit, "Dilaw."

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, Maki expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support. "I'm really, really happy and grateful talaga na dumating na sa point na and dami ng tao nakakaalam sa music ko and isa rin dito 'yung sobra kong grateful kasi na-i-inspire 'yung youth," he shared. (I'm truly grateful to have reached a point where so many people know my song, and I'm also thankful that it inspires the youth.)

Maki mentioned he aims to evoke nostalgia and joyful memories through his music, hoping that listeners will cherish the emotions his songs bring. "Sobrang nakakataba ng puso to be a part of something sa life ng mga kabataan ngayon and gusto ko someday if maririnig, whenever they hear my songs maalala nila 'yung ganitong years of their lives and very, very nostalgic but it was very fun during those times," he explained. (It's incredibly heartwarming to be a part of something in the lives of today's youth. I hope that someday when they hear my songs, they'll remember these years of their lives as very nostalgic but also very fun.)

The Filipino singer celebrated his Billboard Philippines Hot 100 Chart success as a significant milestone for the OPM industry, particularly for fellow artists who have also made it onto the charts.

"I'm really really happy sa achievement na iyon actually to be a part ng Billboard Charts talagang sobrang malaking bagay na sa akin so I'm celebrating this achievement along with the OPM artists na nandoon," he said. (I'm really really happy about this achievement. Being part of the Billboard Charts is a huge deal for me, so I'm celebrating this achievement along with the OPM artists who are on there too.)

Maki also teased exciting plans for his supporters this year, including the recent release of his new single, “Namumula”. The song explores themes relevant to the new generation's love life, dedicated to people "mahilig maghabol sa mga taong hindi naman deserve." (chasing their loved ones who didn't deserve their love).

Additionally, Maki will connect with his fans in person through his two-day concert, "MAKI-CONCERT," scheduled on November 29 and 30 at the New Frontier Theater.
