Rising OPM band Before Rain Begins has a unique story behind its name.

Composed of Gab Medina (lead guitar), Jeth Medina (bass), Nef Medina (vocals), Mikkel Arevalo (rhythm guitar), and Stephen Arevalo (drums), the band revealed that its members have different interpretations of their name, particularly what "rain" symbolizes.

"Sa akin po, personally, parang ang naging meaning nung ulan is medyo negative. Na kumbaga for me, bago umulan sa buhay ko, gagawin ko na 'tong move na 'to. Ayun po 'yung meaning ng Before Rain Begins for me," Nef shared.

Meanwhile, Mikkel and Jeth see rain as a symbol of blessings.

"Sa akin, 'yung bago bumuhos ang ulan, sa akin naman 'yung ulan kasi blessing. Ayun bago umulan, ito 'yung mga napagdaanan namin," Mikkel explained.

"Same din sa akin kay Mikkel. Inisip ko siya as blessing," Jeth added.

Nef was one of the finalists in the GMA singing competition 'The Clash,' while Mikkel and Stephen were previously part of the OPM band Agsunta.

As for their musical style, Before Rain Begins leans toward pop, with a touch of rock in its live performances. The band is known for its heartfelt songs, including "Puyat," "Pinto," and "Mag-isa."
