Veteran filmmaker Peque Gallaga dies after being hospitalized due to past conditions.

Veteran filmmaker and 'Oro, Plata, Mata' director Peque Gallaga passed away today, May 7. He was 76.

The director died at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City, his brother confirmed to Inquirer.

Filmmakers Kip Oebanda and Joey Paras paid their tribute to the esteemed director.

Actress Zsa Zsa Padilla, which starred in Hiwaga sa Balete Drive in 1998, shared a photo taken during the taping of the movie.

Jake Ejercito also thanked the director for giving him his two favorite films, 'Magic Temple,' and 'Batang X.'

According to a statement released by director Lore Reyes on May 4, the director was hospitalized because of his past conditions and not COVID-19.

Peque is also known for directing 'Scorpio Nights,' 'Magic Temple,' and several 'Shake, Rattle, and Roll' films.
