A giant Christmas decoration at the Antipolo home of Drag Race Philippines host Paolo Ballesteros caught fire earlier this week, prompting quick action from his family to prevent further damage.
The incident was revealed through a Facebook post shared by Paolo's sister, Chiqui Ballesteros-Belen. According to her post, the large green bow installed outside their house unexpectedly caught fire, causing alarm among those at home.
“Pagkatapos maghapunan at magkuwentuhan, may pumuntang kapitbahay sa amin kagabi, sinabing yung ribbon daw, umuusok,” Chiqui said in a Facebook reel.
Fortunately, the situation was immediately addressed. Chiqui shared that they acted quickly to put out the flames, preventing the fire from spreading and avoiding any injuries.
She added, “Salamat po sa kapitbahay naming kumatok. Maaga mang nag-retire ang green laso ng Antipolo, ligtas at sama-sama pa ring magpapasko. Thank you Lord sa pag-aadya sa aming pamilya,” she added.
The giant Christmas ribbon has long been a family tradition, having been put up every holiday season since as early as 2020.
While no major damage was reported, the incident served as a reminder of the potential risks that come with elaborate holiday decorations, especially those involving electrical components.
