Paolo Contis and Cindy Kurleto admit that they observed the pros and cons of using social media platforms when a person is from the showbiz industry.

Cindy and Paolo shared their opinion in the online talk show, Just In.

For the uninitiated, Just In is a Wednesday night show hosted by Paolo and Vaness Del Moral.

The former host, model, and actress discussed her initial thoughts about using social media and how different their life was when it was not yet a norm.

According to Cindy, they were not bothered by internet trolls back then, but they couldn't voice their side of the story as they didn't have a platform to speak their truth.

“I think we were more protected from the trolls online. But at the same time we didn't have a chance to voice our own side of the story.

“'Pag may gossip, 'pag may write up na mali and it's really bad, you couldn't go to social media and be like 'well actually, I didn't say that.' You can't do that back in the day. There was no platform for that.”

Cindy clarified that she is not promoting going to social media to say those things. Cindy tells that doing that is a sign of bad manners.

“Not that I would advise anyone who is in showbiz right now to ever actually do that. It's bad manners, don't do it.

“But they have a chance. They have a chance to voice their own opinions; we never had back in the day.

Cindy also disclosed the life of working on ex-deals and monetization of social media accounts.

Cindy mentioned her stand on how working with brands or products feels more personal now as celebrities or influencers use their own accounts.

“With all those little ex-deals where you keep monetizing your social media, you keep pushing products, it's much more personal.

“It's really up to you na to push certain things. It's not the company anymore, it's you, it's your work to push certain things at 'yung bayad mas maliit 'di ba?

Paolo said that back in the day, they felt more like celebrities.

“Before, we felt like not naman on a pedestal but we felt more like celebrities."

Paolo told Cindy that the use of social media became celebrities' way to share their stories and connect to their fans. Still, it has pros and cons for personalities like him as some take advantage of their posts.

“Because of the pandemic we have to show everyone what we're doing. It became more personal.

“Again there are pros and cons. We feel we're closer to the people but sometimes other people take advantage of it."

Paolo confessed that the use of social media has made people overlook their skills as actors. The actor and host said, “Now it's not all about acting anymore. It's also about your personal life."

Cindy brought up another topic in using social media platforms and its connection to talent fees.

According to Cindy, she doesn't agree on using the number of followers as a basis to how much a person should earn.

“I don't like that the numbers that are following you on social media give a direct indication as to how much your talent fee could work out to. 'Di ba? 'Di ba, totoo yan!”

She asked Paolo if it was a contentious subject.

Cindy explained while chuckling, “Am I talking about controversial topics? Pasensya na. That's what I can observe.”
