Ria mourned the death of her brother as she announced the sad news on Facebook.
She wrote, “I lost my brother on that flight. No words can describe how devastating it is to lose a family member in such a horrific way. How do you process something like this. How. All I know is that he fought like a hero and I can only hope that his fight would not be in vain. RIP, Nicko. I love you my brother. I will honor you forever.”
Along with her post is a photo of her brother's last post about his mission in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I can't wait for this terrible disease to end. But before that time comes, let me do this for you guys. Let's fight this, and in all honesty, I'm scared as hell,” a part of it read.
Nicko was among the eight people on board the Lionair plane headed to Haneda, Japan for a medical evaluation when the aircraft caught fire and exploded at the Manila International Airport. No one from their team survived the crash.
