Park Seo Joon's Itaewon Class has soared to all-new ratings high for its finale episode!
According to Nielsen Korea, the series finale scored an average viewership of 16.5 percent nationwide and 18.3 percent in the Seoul metropolitan area, marking its highest ranking to date.
“Itaewon Class” holds the second-highest rating in JTBC history after “Sky Castle” -- whose finale achieved the highest rating in the history of any Korean cable network.
On Instagram, its main star, Park Seo Joon, reflected on the end of his series and equally thanked the cast and crew for their hard work.
“Last night, the alcohol was too sweet. I'm just now finally coming out of it. Even sweeter is the feeling of being rewarded with many people's love and interest over these past seven months that flew by without notice.
“While together with [my character] Sae Ro Yi, I could feel that Park Seo Joon as a person was also growing. To all of the cast and crew who made me think again about my life's beliefs and values, I sincerely thank you,” he wrote.
“Now, Sae Ro Yi will remain as another page in my diary. Thank you for cherishing, loving, and supporting me during the show's run. It was even more beautiful and complete because I was with all of you.
“Please be happy and healthy.”
“Itaewon Class,” tells the story of ex-convict Park Sae Royi (Park Seo Joon) whose life has been turned upside down after he gets expelled from school for punching a bully and his father is killed in an accident.
Following in his father's footsteps, he opened his bar and restaurant Dan Bam (which means Sweet Night) in Itaewon. Along with his manager and staff, they strive towards success and reaching greater heights.
