It takes two hours to make Marian Rivera less attractive. Not ugly, mind you. Just less perfect than she normally looks.
It takes roughly two hours to make Marian Rivera less attractive. And we’re talking “less attractive” here, not even “ugly.” Because even with scars covering half her face, making Marian unpretty is just not possible. Witness her transformation here as prosthetic makeup artist Cecille Baun changes her from 'Dyesebel' to 'Isabel.' Text by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. Interviewed with Jason S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. We all know that in her hit TV series Mars Ravelo's Dyesebel, Marian’s character gave up her tail to be with the man she loves, Fredo (Dingdong Dantes). But her pair of legs had another compromise: her face also had to be tainted. stars And that’s where prosthetic makeup artist Cecille Baun comes in. She’s had her share of local and international clients, and is pretty much a “suki” of GMA’s shows. For instance, she was the one hired for Mars Ravelo’s Darna, Majika, and Mga Mata ni Anghelita, among others. She also did the prosthetics for the Hollywood flick, Zombie: The Beginning. She started off by covering Marian’s left eyebrow and carefully placing glue on every little crevice of the special latex rubber specifically molded according to the contours of Marian’s face. Cecille explained that they had to make “positive” and “negative” molds of Marian’s face to make sure that it’s the exact fit. As for the actual piece, they have to painstakingly cut out specific parts to give it a spider-like quality. When the prosthetic was in place, she used a sponge to even out all lifted parts and make it look more natural. But what really took a long time was painting each crevice brown and green for the overall look to seem more “otherworldly.” stars The least we could say is that Marian was a pro. She knew it would take a long time, so she came armed and prepared with her handy PSP! Unfortunately, Marian couldn’t talk much during that time because she had a cold and lost her voice, so she just nodded and smiled at us while we were taking snapshots of her transformation. It may have looked complicated to get Marian to look like the deformed Isabel, but Cecille, who has been doing prosthetics for over 40 years, made it seem like it was a cinch.
