The Pepito Manaloto cast and crew began their school tour in the oldest university in Asia, the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

Dubbed ‘Pepito Manalotour,” the activity is composed of three parts—a script-reading session participated by the full cast and selected students from the university, the viewing of the full episode, and an open forum where the students can address the director and the cast members.

The show’s mainstays, namely Michael V, Manilyn Reynes, Jake Vargas, Angel Satsumi, Nova Villa, Ronnie Henares, John Feir, Jessa Zaragoza, Mosang, Arthur Solinap, Janna Dominguez and Jen Rosendahl, all graced the university with their presence as they shared an afternoon with the second-year Communication Arts students of the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters.

Pepito Manaloto, himself, Michael V is more than just the lead cast member, but is also the show’s Creative Director and Head Writer. He takes pride in the concept of the school tour that they have launched, especially since it’s the first time to be executed in the history of Philippine entertainment.

The activity, which will be aired as an episode, is in line with the show’s three-fold objective.

“Siguro tinatanong nung iba kung bakit namin ginagawa 'yung show na Pepito Manaloto… Three reasons. Unang-una, to entertain, na sana naman nagawa (namin), to educate, and to inspire… 'Yung characters, I hope may nagawa ‘yan sa inyo on a personal basis. Siguro may mga characters na nakaka-relate kayo, may mga insidente na parang may nangyari na sa inyo,” he said.

The school tour, additionally, aims to fuse a connection between entertainment and education. “Hopefully (through this), makagawa kami ng bridge between television at saka academics,” he added.

As he addressed the future members of the media industry, he expressed his intention of fueling their dreams and aspirations.

“I do hope na itong ginawa naming na ‘to ay nakaka-entertain… And of course, gusto naming mag-educate. Ma-educate naming kayo kung paano naming ginagawa… Thirdly, to inspire—inspire you to be the next artista, to inspire you to be the next director, [to] inspire you to be the next writer…,” he shared.

Watch out for the next leg of the ‘Pepito Manalotour’ in Miriam College and the University of the Philippines.
