Who would have thought that 2018 Binibining Pilipinas-Supranational title holder Jehza Huelar and former PBA star Peter June Simon--a picture of a happy couple--went through some difficult times in 2020.
Jehza shared on social media that she lost her first baby in June 2020.
In a lengthy post via Instagram yesterday, March 5, the wife of PJ Simon recalled the horrible moment when she found out that she suffered from miscarriage.
“Never thought I'd come to a point writing this reflection to share with you my pregnancy journey. Akala ko the 1st photo will forever be kept in my phone unshared.
“If we try to look back, my pregnancy announcement happened last year during PJ's birthday -- as a surprise gift for him. I was 7 weeks pregnant here. If you do the math, I should have delivered the baby last January 2021.
“But destiny has a way to challenge our faith. It was mid June when I was rushed to the hospital because of heavy bleeding. In my mind, I already knew what was about to transpire. And it happened. We lost our baby.”
Both Jehza and PJ tried to move on from what happened, but the former beauty queen admitted that it was emotionally hard for both of them.
“The OB Doctor told us I couldn't and shouldn't get pregnant in the next 3 months after miscarriage to make sure that my next pregnancy is successful.
“We couldn't comprehend.
“The pain we felt was unbearable. More than the physical pain, the emotional pain of seeing my husband cried was incomparable. So many whys but we surrendered everything to the Lord. We cried our heart out. We put our faith in. And we tried to move on.”
But a miracle happened, Jehza later found out that after a checkup with her OBGYN doctor that she was again pregnant.
Jehza recounted the unexpected news, “Upon final check up to see if my uterus was all cleared out, I was told that my period should go back to normal after 4-6 weeks of miscarriage.
"Not counting the days, 6 weeks have turned to 2 months... so I went back to my OB doctor to have myself checked. And the answered prayer was there. GOD HAS HEARD. I am pregnant again -- unexpectedly.
“Hearing the news, PJ and I knew we have to take care of this precious gift so we decided to remove unnecessary stress life is giving us. We had our OB Doctor clearance processed and hurriedly went back to Mindanao for a fresh state of mind.
“Five months later, after the gender reveal, 2 rainbows showed up (1 was not clear and it disappeared right away) ~ he is our miracle, rainbow baby. A very valuable gift from God 💙”
She added, “Science tells us that it is a case happens in many women all around the globe but the Lord has the only answer in all these whys. THIS IS OUR TESTIMONY.
“Always remember: God will never take away something from you without the intention of replacing it something better. You just have to keep the faith.”
True enough the Simon couple finally received the best miracle in their lives and on the first day of March, Jehza has given birth to a healthy baby boy they named Peter Jeidon Simon.
PJ and Jehza both tied the knot in May 2019--the ceremony was a gorgeous garden wedding in Tagaytay, which was attended by several popular PBA stars and beauty queens.
In September 2020, PJ Simon made the difficult decision to finally hang up his jersey and retire from professional basketball to focus on his family.
In an emotional social media post, the Magnolia Hotshots cager revealed the reason why he decided to move on from playing basketball.
“Kinailangan kong umuwi ng Davao nung nagkasakit at namatay ang father ko at nahirapan na rin akong makabalik dahil sa pandemya. Sign na rin siguro yun na ito na yung tamang time para magretiro.
“Binigay ko yung 17 years ng buhay ko sa PBA, sa Magnolia Hotshots, at sa lahat ng fans but now it's time to focus on my family. My wife is pregnant and gusto ko magkasama kami as we start a family.”
