Japanese idol group Phantom Siita is taking their music to the Philippines for their "Moth to a Flame" world tour.
Phantom Siita is scheduled to perform on January 18 at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura which marks their first performance in the country.
The five-member girl group is made up of members Mona, Miu, Rinka, Hisui, and Moka and produced by musician Ado.
Phantom Siita debuted on June 26, 2024 and released their first single "Otomodachi." They released their first album Shoujo no Hi no Omoide on October 30, 2024.
In an interview with Phantom Siita, the girls reflected on their journey as idols now that they've reached their first year as a group.
Mona said, "Starting from the audition and after the members were chosen, we have been very busy releasing songs, shooting music videos, performing on TV and more.
"Through those amazing experiences and meeting our fans and receiving their love and support, I feel like we have concluded the 1st chapter of Phantom Siita with our first headlining Budokan show in November.
"It has only been 6 months since the debut but it was a very rich and meaningful 6 months and I think we were able to grow a lot as a group."
The concept of retro-horror is a unique theme for Japanese idol-groups, and Phantom Siita shared what their group symbolizes.
Miu explained, "When we signed up for the audition, the concept of retro-horror was already mentioned. The context of horror there is not like ghosts or anything like that."
Mona added, "Right. It's not like ghost scary but it is the dark side of humans that you see in their nostalgia and beauty. It is the feel of chills going down your spine. That is what we call retro-horror.' Our retro aspect is being inspired by idols of the Showa era. Nostalgic yet new is what we aim to express."
Hisui agreed and said, "The concept of retro-horror is very unique and new and our music is also very new for Japanese idol groups. So when people hear the name “Phantom Siita," I want people to think of us as a genre of its own. That is how far I want to explore the concept of rero-horror."
