
GMA Integrated News anchor and multi-platform broadcast journalist Pia Arcangel strengthened her ties with GMA-7 after renewing her contract with the Kapuso network on Friday, August 29.
Present during this momentous event were GMA Network President and Chief Executive Officer Gilberto R. Duavit Jr., Senior Vice President and Head of GMA Integrated News, Regional TV, and Synergy Oliver B. Amoroso, and Vice President, Deputy Head for News Programs and Specials Division, GMA Integrated News Michelle Seva.
In a video message, GMA Chairman Atty. Felipe L. Gozon expressed his gratitude to Pia for her continued dedication and excellence.
GMA President and Chief Executive Officer Gilberto R. Duavit Jr. also thanked Pia for embodying what a Kapuso truly is.
“Isa akong tagahanga ni Pia at nagpapasalamat sa pagkakataon, Pia, na pasalamatan ka dahil isa kang ehemplo ng tunay at inaasam-asam na Kapuso. You are the ideal, you personify it, exemplify, and you make us all proud," he said.
In her speech, Pia expressed her heartfelt gratitude to GMA Network.
"Thank you so much for the trust and confidence that GMA has bestowed on somebody like me who, you know, fresh out of college, took a chance," she said.
The multi-platform journalist also added that GMA is not only a workplace, but also a "family" and a "home."
Throughout her long career in the media industry, Pia has covered reports on politics, crime, breaking news, as well as hosted documentaries and anchored news programs.
The seasoned news personality is one of the anchors of the flagship newscast 24 Oras Weekend and the late-night newscast Saksi.
Regarded as one of the esteemed journalists of her generation, Pia's craft in delivering news has earned her various recognitions, such as Media Excellence in TV News Presentation (Female) at the 3rd Lauris Nobilis Excellence Award, Best TV Female Anchor at the 16th Gawad Tanglaw, and more.
