Two beauty queens campaign for HIV/AIDS awareness.
The queens are in the know!
Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and this year’s Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina visited the UNICEF office in the country to talk about the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) yesterday, September 27.
Maxine is glad that she got a chance to be educated on the disease, and that she was surprised of the alarming cases in our country.
She advised, “I may not be an expert, but HIV and AIDS are uncontrollable without proper medical intervention, counseling, and education.”
“We should be always be aware and informed. We can always get tested and eventually encourage others to do so. To change one's life through information is powerful. If you love yourself, stay negative, get tested [and] end the stigma,” the Philippines' bet for the Miss Universe 2017 pageant added.
