Earlier this year, Pia was hailed as a new #HIV Prevention Ambassador by Aid for AIDS.

When asked why she deserved to be crowned as Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach answered that she wants to use her voice to champion causes such has HIV/AIDS awareness.

And on May 15, Pia showed her solidarity and devotion to her cause by lighting a candle for the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial.

The Miss Universe aims to break down the stigma surrounding people afflicted with HIV/AIDS and to remind the public to get checked.
