Pia and Celeste

Former Miss Universe winner Pia Wurtzbach has a sweet message for Celeste, who failed to enter the semifinal round of the 71st Miss Universe pageant.

Many Filipinos were shocked and upset, when our bet Celeste Cortesi didn't make it to the Top 16 of the 71st Miss Universe held in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The outcome broke the streak of the Philippines of consistently making it to the semifinals since 2010.

In a tweet, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach expressed support for Celeste and firmly believes that she gave her "best" in the competition.

Pia wrote, “We know you gave it your all, Celeste. We are very proud of you.”

Aside from Pia, the other Pinay Miss Universe winners include Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), and Catriona Gray (2018).

This year, Miss USA R'Bonney Gabriel won the prestigious pageant.

She is half-Filipino, because her father Remigio Bonzon "R.Bon" Gabriel hails from Malate.
