Kamote a.k.a. sweet potato -or yam as the Americans call it--is a sweet-tasting root vegetable which is a good alternative energy source for those who are on a diet and need to avoid rice to cut down their carbohydrate intake.

It is high on fiber and rich in potassium, Vitamins C and Vitamin A. And even though it's called Sweet Potato it doesn't have that much sugar, unlike rice.

In the Southeast Asian region, kamote is often cooked as a street food called Sweet Potato Balls.

And in the latest episode of Pinas Sarap's ECQusina live cooking show on Facebook. Kara shared her own version of the Sweet Potato Balls or Kamote Balls.

For her recipe, Kara chose the yellow variety because according to her it is sweeter than other types of kamote.

Here are all the ingredients you'll need to make Kamote Balls:

Kamote/sweet potato
Condensed milk
¼ cup of all-purpose flour
¼ cup cornstarch
½ tsp. baking powder
Salt

Kara advised that if you want your Kamote Balls to have a texture similar to Buchi, then you should use rice flour, instead of an all-purpose flour.

You can also add butter or dip it in condensed milk once you serve it for added taste.
