She is no stranger to the stage and drama, at madalas natin siyang napapanood playing the doting mother who knows what is best para sa kanyang mga anak. At inamin naman ni Ms. Pinky Marquez that she relishes such roles both on- and off-cam. Text by Erick Mataverde. Photo courtesy of GMA Network.
Nang maabutan ng iGMA.tv si Ms. Pinky Marquez sa remote set ng
Zorro, siya ay resplendent sa suot niyang period costume. At mukha siyang kumportableng-kumportable dito. For sure this is because she is no stranger to playing roles that require her to wear unusual dresses both in front of the camera or onstage.

"So much fun!" she said when we asked her about her role in the show. "It's like I'm going through history, even with the characterization, the people before, especially my character, Doña Catalina. And the costumes and the make-up and everything all blend together, even the script. For like I'm going through time, somewhere in time!"
Nagbigay din siya ng sarili niyang take sa kanyang role: "Well, I'm a kind person but it's just that we want to maintain our stature in the society, the rich class. I want to rub elbows with the rich, especially having [parties] and try every means just to maintain [our status]. So many challenges happened but my role is like jolly din, the bond between me and my husband, it's so cute."
At, alam naman natin kung papaano tratuhin ni Doña Catalina ang kanyang dalagang si Lolita, as played by Rhian Ramos—though sa totoong buhay siya ay tuwang-tuwa sa young star and considers Rhian a daughter on the set.
"Yes, she's so sweet. I treat her like my daughter talaga," kuwento ni Ms. Pinky. "I mean, I also have a daughter, so I know how it feels to have a daughter—it's nice. You're concerned about her, but of course my character here is I'm just concerned to use her, partly to maintain our [status]."
Siya din ay tuwang-tuwa kay Richard Gutierrez and is happy to work with him for the first time: "Usually, I'm a mother of all these handsome guys—Dingdong (Dantes), the last one was
One True Love, and [in]
Dyesebel, I was the mom of Bianca King. Marian (Rivera)? Not yet, but Dingdong [yes], and now it's so ang dami na, ang dami ko nang anak!
Pinky also told us about how her taping in Zorro was progressing.
"I like working with GMA because they are so organized. You know the script ahead of time, they tell you the sequences ahead of time so you can prepare for it, and then it's timed like they know who is next. So they'll prepare you, put your make-up, ganyan. Even the waiting is fun because even the characters around, the actors and actresses are so professional. We make aliw ourselves, even the production, the make-up artist, are so much fun. Oo, the make-up artists, the hairdressers, they're so professional and it's fun, that's the point—professionally done but fun!"
