With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting everyone's livelihood now is the right time to support local businesses.
This is where the powliner of celebrities comes into play, with their large number of fans and supporters following their every move.
Here are just a few of these personalities who have taken upon themselves to support locally made products in the hope of inspiring others to do the same.

A true style icon, no one can question Heart's taste when it comes to fashion. Putting her influence to great use, the Kapuso actress has been actively promoting the women weavers of Sorsogon since June this year. Heart's husband, Chiz Escudero, is the governor of the province.
Heart proudly shows off these locally handcrafted products - from handbags to accessories to tissue holders to home décor items, among others - on social media. She even launched a dedicated Instagram page named Maison Love Marie to showcase these products for people to purchase.

The 2018 Miss Universe is an avid supporter of indigenous weavers. Making the most of the current situation, Catriona is often seen wearing beautiful handwoven face masks made from local textiles. Just this month, the beauty queen encouraged the public to patronize the Yakan community in Zamboanga and purchase their handmade products.

John and Derek, who made his return to GMA-7 last year via the drama series, The Better Woman, put their own stamp in their shoe designs to reflect their own personalities. More importantly, it was their way to show support to local brands during these highly uncertain times.
Marian Rivera

This list would not be complete without Marian Rivera. She is after all the longtime face of Kultura, the local brand that champions Filipino craftsmanship and artistry. The mother of two has also been seen wearing a timepiece made by a local watch manufacturer, Ibarra. It was reported last year that the actress has ditched buying imported brands in favor of Philippine-made products to further support local businesses.

Award-winning broadcast journalist Howie Severino made news in July after he was apprehended by authorities for briefly taking his mask off to take a drink during a bike ride with friends. A picture of Howie taken at the time of the incident revealed that he was using a Bambike bicycle model. Bambike is a local company that produces eco-friendly bicycles made from bamboo. Howie, who is a longtime Bambike user and cycling advocate, thankfully was sent home together with his bicycle by the authorities on the same day of the incident.
