Queen Elizabeth II


Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96.

Rest in paradise.

The whole world mourns the death of UK's Queen Elizabeth II, marking the end of her 70-year reign. She was 96.

Elizabeth is Britain's longest-serving monarch, who inherited the throne after the death of her father King George VI on Feb. 6, 1952.

The news of her death quickly became a hot topic on several social media sites. As of this writing, Queen Elizabeth and other names of the British Royal family were among the top trending topics on Twitter.

There were also people tweeting the name of the late Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in France in August 1997.

Meanwhile, Filipino-British actors Derek Ramsay and Bela Padilla took to their respective social media pages to remember the late queen

Siblings Anne Curtis and Jasmine Curtis-Smith also remembered Queen Elizabeth II.

Anne tweeted, “May Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, Rest In Peace”

For her part, Kapuso actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith took to Instagram Story to share her feelings about the sad news, too.

Both Anne and Jasmine are of Filipino-Australian descent. In Australia, the head of state was her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. And now with her passing, the country will have a new king, King Charles III.

Quezon city councilor Alfred Vargas described Queen Elizabeth as a “towering historical figure” in a statement he posted on his Twitter account.

“She was, as many tributes describe her, a towering historical figure who leaves a mixed but truly inimitable legacy in her seven decades of service.

“Rest in peace, Queen Elizabeth You will be dearly missed.
