Another Filipino is making a mark on the global scene and she goes by the name Angel Bonilla!

Today, 31-year-old Angel who hails from Cabuyao, Laguna joins Team Adam (Levine) of 'The Voice US' after giving a powerful rendition of a Sam Smith original, "Lay Me Down."

Interestingly, her voice is not the only thing that will draw you to Angel as she has quite a story to tell.

"I was born Carlos back in the Philippines... As early as five years old, I already knew that I am a girl trapped in boy's body. Growing up in a conservative family, it was very difficult for my father," tells Angel during interviews for the show.

She continued, "When my father saw me as a girl for the first time, he was puzzled. He wasn't sure if I was his son but he embraced me... I promised him that I will do great things. I wanted my father to be proud of me and I'm doing this to honor him."

Meantime, watch Angel's cover of Amy Winehouse's "Love is a Losing Game."
