Pops Fernandez on keeping chemistry with Martin Nievera: “It's a natural thing, really.”

For the first time in many years, Pops Fernandez and Martin Nievera will team up again for a very special show.

The former couple, also known as the country's Concert King and Queen, will headline the New Year's Eve celebration called The Royal Affair at The Tent at Solaire Resort and Casino on December 31.

Pops said she looks forward to this show because, “I've done several New Year's eve countdown shows and it's always fun. People are always on a happy mode, so it should be fun also.”

GMANetwork.com and a few selected entertainment media got the chance to chat with Pops during the appreciation dinner hosted by Solaire recently.

Here, the singer-turned-producer admitted that despite being more than three decades in the industry, she still gets nervous about performing in public.

“I still get nervous, ha,” she said.

“I think, it's not even nerves. I think it's part of the excitement, na you just wanna be on stage and gusto mo kalahati na yung show para kampante ka na at comfortable ka na. I still feel that.

“I think that's still very important because I feel na kapag sobra naman akong sure of my performance, hindi na siya exciting. Iba rin naman ang level of performance ko, di ba?

“And every performance is different even if it's the same show.

“Even if it's the same songs we sing, it's still very different because every show, we have different audience.

“Depende rin sa reaksiyon ng audience and how we are touching the emotions of our audience.”

For the “The Royal Affair,” Pops said audience can expect her and Martin to perform their hit and some other new songs to keep the party vibe on New Year's Eve.

As for their fans who will come to the show, Pops assures that they will see the same chemistry between her and Martin.

Pop shared her experience during their first shows for Two-gether Again Tour this year, “At first I was anxious. I was like, 'Ano kaya ang mangyayari? Ano kaya ang sasabihin namin?'

“But it was just a natural thing. I think after that, sunud-sunod na.

“It's like we never left the stage together. It's parang kailan lang we were on stage performing, and now, we're performing again.”

Unlike other pairings, Pops said about her connection to her ex-husband, “It's a natural thing, really.

“We never really talked about it. We don't plan it. We never plan it.

“Kung maniniwala talaga kayo sa mga chemistry and there's such a thing with certain people, I think that's what we have.”
