The Big Bad Wolf Books, the highly-anticipated mega 24/7 book fair, is set to hold a nationwide online event.

“Sa Luzon, sa Visayas, at sa Mindanao. I hear your cries Wolfies and don't worry I am coming to you very soon,” it said on Facebook.

The lingering pandemic necessitated the need to do the event online for health and safety reasons.

The last time the event was staged in the Philippines was in February last year at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, a few weeks before the country (and the world) enforced lockdowns.

Also referred to as BBW Books, the mega book fair originated in Malaysia and was founded by BookXcess founders Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng.

It opened in May 2009 and since then has expanded to other countries including Indonesia, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and the Philippines, among others.

The fair is known for holding 24-hour events for multiple days, giving the public more than enough time to visit the event and purchase books at low prices.

“We offer books at low prices by taking the effort to source for quality books directly from the UK and US publishers and offering it between 50% to 90% of the recommended retail price,” Jacqueline told The Asian Parent in an interview published in March.

“When books are made affordable and easily accessible to everyone to enjoy, regardless of ones' stature, it changes one's world! We truly believe in: Changing the World, One Book at a Time.”
