Prince Harry

The Duke of Sussex is now a tech executive. Find out what his job title is and what exactly will he be doing for work.

Prince Harry just landed his first job in California after stepping down as a working royal. The Duke of Sussex is now a tech executive at a Silicon Valley startup called BetterUp. His exact job title is Chief Impact Officer.

BetterUp is a company that offers personalized coaching and mental health services through an app.

In an announcement made by the startup, they called Prince Harry a “natural addition to their executive team” since he's long been a mental fitness advocate.

He is reportedly excited to join the company “to help more people unlock their potential through coaching, connection, and community support.”

Some of the key goals of Prince Harry's role as Chief Impact Officer are to “guide the company's social mission, expand their global community, and influence the vision of their member experience, bringing the power of professional and personal growth to people everywhere.”

In a statement written by Prince Harry himself and published on the company's website, he explained why mental health care is important.

He wrote, “What I've learned in my own life is the power of transforming pain into purpose.

“During my decade in the military, I learned that we don't just need to build physical resilience, but also mental resilience.

“And in the years since, my understanding of what resilience means -- and how we can build it -- has been shaped by the thousands of people and experts I've been fortunate to meet and learn from. “

Prince Harry also revealed that when he first met BetterUp CEO, Alexi Robichaux, he recognized that they both share the passion for advocating mental health.

Moreover, The Duke of Sussex had also tried the services of the company himself and found it to be “invaluable,” as he was matched with a coach that gave him sound advice and fresh perspective.

The news of Prince Harry getting hired for the said position was first reported by Wall Street Journal, and according to them, the startup declined to say how much the former working royal's salary would be.

But CEO Alexi Robichaux told Wall Street Journal, “It's a meaningful and meaty role.”

It can be recalled that in their recent tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle divulged that she had suicidal thoughts during her time at the palace and was denied help for her mental struggles.

Plus, in the same interview, Prince Harry revealed that he and wife Meghan are now independent money-wise after being cut off financially from the Royal Family.

The Duke of Sussex also said that the Spotify and Netflix deals that he scored last year weren't planned but have become a necessity.

It was reported on ITV News that the Spotify deal that Prince Harry and Meghan accepted for their Archewell Audio podcast is at an estimated amount of $25 million.

As for their Netflix deal, they tapped award-winning producer Ben Browning, whose film, Promising Young Woman, was recently nominated for an Oscar.

The exact amount of their Netflix deal wasn't divulged, but New York Times reported that at one point, representatives for the couple were seeking a deal in the neighborhood of $100 million. They have also allegedly quietly talked with Disney, Apple, and NBC Universal.

And although the royal couple weren't paid for their exclusive, tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, CBS paid a hefty price tag of around $7-9 million to Harpo Productions for the rights.
