Anton del Rosario is a firm believer that Filipinos would excel in football more than basketball.

The professional football player and team owner of Maharlika FC explained his answer when he guested the show Just In hosted by Paolo Contis.

In the episode last October 28, Paolo asked Anton if he believes Filipinos will excel more in football than basketball. Anton answered right away, “One hundred percent.”

Anton paused briefly to explain that he is not implying any negativity towards basketball. He clarified that even though he is a professional football player, he is also a fan of basketball.

He said, “Don't get me wrong here, I am not knocking the basketball guys at all. I love basketball. I am a huge Golden State Warriors fan; I am a die-hard basketball guy."

Anton revealed that he saw how Filipino football players perform in the field and he saw a lot of potential.

“I have played with some amazing players out here. I have played with some great players over the years.”

He also believes that Filipinos will excel in football because of different reasons.

“Out here the ability and what we can do with football, it's not so demanding. Physically wise when it comes down to height, so over here it's perfect for the Filipinos. We're very active, we're very determined, we're fighters.”

The former Azkals player added that football will be one of the best sports in the Philippines if more people would show their interest in it.

“I think football is one of the best sports that this country offers. It's all about getting behind it and pushing it more and more.”
