Father's Day is ostensibly about the fathers in our lives, but former Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo is proving that the father figures in our lives deserve the same appreciation on Father's Day.
In a post on her Instagram account, Rabiya greeted her mother with a happy father's day, expressing her gratitude for everything her mother sacrificed and saying that she could only wish to have half of her mother's “wisdom, maturity, and mental prowess.”
She also greeted every single mother who chooses to “nurture and provide for their family” with a happy Father's Day.
Rabiya isn't the only beauty queen that has expressed how important their mothers are to their life, nor is it the first time that they have shared their own unique parental arrangements. Back in May, the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 pageant winners all shared what was uniquely beautiful about their mothers (), or the maternal figures in their lives.
Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi applauded her mother's determination and strength, while Miss Universe Philippines Tourism Michelle Dee credits her mother's giving nature to her own interest in pursuing advocacies that are important to her.
Meanwhile, Annabelle Mcdonnell praised her uncle, as she had grown up as an orphan.
“Growing up, my uncle had to both be my mom and my dad. The fact that he was comfortable with his masculinity helped me grow into the woman that I am,” she said.
Outside of the Miss Universe Philippines organization, Tracy Maureen Perez is another beauty queen who has fought for single mothers as part of her advocacy. Her “Beauty with a Purpose” video showcased her advocacy for single parents and mothers and catapulted her to the final round of the challenge alongside England, India, Kenya, South Africa, and the United States.
