Sparkle beauty queen and promising actress Rabiya Mateo shares her thoughts about being part of the country's longest-running gag show 'Bubble Gang'.
Bubble Gang, the country's longest-running gag show, just announced before the end of 2024 their newest Ka-Bubble member and it is none other than Sparkle beauty queen Rabiya Mateo.
Rabiya will join an elite roster of multi-talented comedians in the award-winning show led by the exceptional Michael V., Paolo Contis, Chariz Solomon, Analyn Barro, Betong Sumaya, Kokoy de Santos, Buboy Villar, EA Guzman, Cheska Fausto, and Matt Lozano.
In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com during the taping of Bubble Gang on December 2, Rabiya talked about this big opportunity for her young showbiz career.
“It was announced days before my birthday and a few days before Christmas, I'm very blessed kasi 'yung Bubble Gang, I grew up watching this show. Iba-iba 'yung naging cast members nila and I can't believe that this is my moment to be part of the legacy,” the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 winner said.
She added, “So akin din naman meron din pressure on my end, because hindi naman madali magpatawa, but as long as nakikinig ka, maganda 'yung rapport mo with other cast members, I think maganda rin naman 'yung kalalabasan nun sa spiels. So, I'm just blessed and thank you so much Bubble Gang for accepting me to be your own.”

Working alongside Kapuso ace comedian Bitoy, Rabiya learned that comedy is an “artwork” and you can convey serious messages through this platform, too.
Rabiya deduced, “I really looked up to them lalo na si Kuya Bitoy, kasi aside from this, 'yung Pepito Manaloto na naging legendary din. So ako, ino-observe ko siya, tahimik siyang tao, pero grabe 'yung lalim niya. Especially kunwari nagbabatuhan ng script, minsan may pinapalitan siya kasi feeling niya may mas magandang way to deliver it.
“So 'yung comedy hindi siya basta-basta na kung maisip mo lang ibato, may lalim din yung lahat. So, pati sa mga ginagawa niyang parodies 'di ba. Mukhang it sounds funny, pero actually may lalim din or double meaning din on a serious note.”
