Kapuso singer and former Miss Saigon star Rachelle Ann Go was chosen to play the role of Fantine in the world’s longest-running musical Les Misérables by West End production starting June 15 in London, United Kingdom.
“I guess it’s official! I will be playing FANTINE!!!” the actress wrote on Twitter about her newest musical which is on its 30th year.
The official Twitter page of the musical also confirmed the news as well as other entertainment pages in UK.
Rachelle will follow the footsteps of Tony award-winning actress Lea Salonga who played the role of Éponine in the 90s. Lea also took on the role of Fantine in the 25th anniversary concert of Les Misérables in 2010.
Rachelle was in Miss Saigon since last year, playing the role of Gigi Van Tranh, but she ended her participation yesterday.
The Kapuso star posted a photo of the musical’s original cast of 2014-2015 and wrote on Instagram, “I will surely miss you all.”

The musical theater performer also posted a throwback photo of her call back slips when she auditioned for the musical in 2012.
She said, “I remember my audition for Miss Saigon almost 3 years ago, I didn’t really expect anything. I guess I wanted to try something different. When I got these slips, I couldn’t believe it, especially when they offered me a role (after waiting for a year).”

The actress added she felt scared during that time and asked God for guidance, “I’m glad I did it!!! I really don’t care about fame, I’m just proud of what I’ve become as a person.”
She thanked everyone who believed and supported her.
