Rachelle Ann Go has always been a dreamer. In her younger years, she dreamed of becoming a famous singer. She never stopped dreaming even if she is already living the dream. Lo and behold, something bigger awaits her.

In what could be considered as a turning point in her singing career, Rachelle Ann Go bagged the role of Gigi Van Tranh in the 2014 West End revival of Miss Saigon in London.

GMANetwork.com caught up with the award-winning singer during her recording for the “Bangon Kaibigan” music video.

Rachelle looked back at the audition processes that she went through before ultimately getting the role of Gigi.

She shared, “Pinakamahirap talaga sa lahat ‘yung waiting, kasi I auditioned November of last year. Ito ‘yung sa Manila. Ilang levels din ‘yun. May singing, may acting at may dancing.”

“I got an e-mail from Miss Saigon nitong October lang. May inoffer sila sa akin na ibang role, kasi nag-audition ako para sa role na Kim. Napanood nila ‘yung audition video ko. Sabi nila kailangan talaga bata ‘yung Kim, so iba ‘yung inoffer nila. Tinanong kung interested ba ako, siyempre ako, yes lang ako ng yes sa lahat ng sinasabi nila,” said Rachelle.

Following this, Rachelle sent the Miss Saigon team a video of her singing “The Movie In My Mind”.

According to the Kapuso singer, “After that, sobrang galing, kasi sila lahat ang nag-ayos. Hindi ako nag-effort, hanggang sa noong November, pinapunta na nila ako sa London.”

She continued, “Ang dami ring processes doon. May prep session with the associate producers, tapos na-meet ko ‘yung director and then ‘yung final na cast talaga, nakaharap ko lahat, plus the writers. Naninigas talaga ako noon. ‘Yun ‘yung last audition.”

She described the whole experience as “Medyo mahirap at nakakakabang process pero nalaman ko na rin ‘yun after the audition. Tumawag sila and they offered me the role of Gigi.”

Rachelle will be leaving for London on the first week of March. Rehearsals will start at March 3, and Miss Saigon will be opening on May 3, 2014. It will run for one year.

Before the end of our interview, Rachelle gave this piece of advice for aspiring singers who want to make it big: “Ang ginagawa ko kasi, dasal lang talaga and if you really love what you do, nakikita ‘yun ng mga tao. ‘Yung sincerity mo sa craft mo, dapat nandiyan. Ako, I’m just enjoying what I do. Galing lang talaga dapat sa puso, maging totoo ka at kumilos ka para ma-achieve mo ang gusto mo sa buhay mo.”
