Prince William defended the royal family against accusations of racism made by his brother, Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle.

William, together with his wife Kate Middleton, was spotted during a school visit in east London on Thursday, making their first public appearance since the controversial tell-all interview of Harry and Meghan with Oprah Winfrey.

The Duke of Cambridge was asked by a reporter if he has communicated with his brother after the TV special was aired three days ago.

“No, I haven't spoken to him yet, but I will do,” William replied politely.

As for the racist allegations, William said, “No, we're very much not a racist family.”

Britain's royal family is currently in the midst of a media storm stemming from the damning revelations made by Harry and Meghan.

The couple's accusations against the royals ranged from lack of empathy to Meghan's mental wellness to Prince Charles' coldness towards Harry to racism against their son, Archie Harrison.

“We have in tandem the conversation of 'he won't be given security,' 'he's not gonna be given a title'…and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born,” Meghan told Oprah.

The Buckingham Palace has released a statement in response to the allegations, saying the issues raised during the interview “are concerning… are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”

Meanwhile, a source reportedly told Vanity Fair that Prince Charles, William and Harry's father, didn't bother to watch the interview when it was aired in the U.K.

The future king, according to the report, was baffled by Harry and Meghan's decision to give a tell-all on national television.
