Ester starter her radio career at 17 years old.
Veteran radio personality and actress Ester Chavez passed away at the age of 93.
Ester started her career in radio at 17 years old.
Ester's vast amount of work in radio earned her the moniker Queen of Filipino Radio Drama.
One of her most popular radio characters was Aling Chayong from the popular, Ilaw ng Tahanan.
She crossed over to the movies and television, where she appeared in several projects including Paano Kung Wala Ka Na?, Boy Supremo, Orapronobis, Bala at Rosaryo, Isinakdal ko ang Aking Ina, Senswal, and Mahal Kita Walang Iwanan.
“In retirement, she was a whip. She could crack up her caregivers with her dry humor. My namesake and mother-in-law, Aling Chayong of Ilaw ng Tahanan fame, light of our home, made her final curtain call on May 31, 2021,” wrote her daughter-in-law Esther Misa Chavez on Facebook.
Ester is survived by her two sons, Armando and Andrew.
