Raffy Tima

Raffy was a voice-over for the now-defunct variety show.

Kapuso reporter Raffy Tima looked back at his years being part of the iconic '80s teen-oriented show "That's Entertainment."

In his Wednesday (November 17) guesting on the "Bawal ang Judgmental" segment of the long-running noontime show Eat Bulaga, he shared what his life was before he ended up being a broadcast journalist.

After earning his degree in Mass Communications minor in Psychology, he worked for a magazine and wrote for a newspaper.

He was also able to gain training from an FM radio station which paved his way to get to channel 13. He then eventually transferred to GMA-7.

However during his internship, he recalled having his practicum on That's Entertainment.

"Nag-practicum ako noon sa 'That's Entertainment.' Ang ginagawa namin nagbibigay ng script, 'yung iba nagtitimpla ng kape," he shared.

"Um-absent 'yung isa sa kanilang voiceover talent tapos wala silang makuha. Sabi ng schoolmate ko sa FD (floor director), 'Si Raffy po nagvo-voice over 'yan sa school,'" he continued.

Indeed, he was tried out for the job and he got it.

"Live kasi noong time na 'yun… wala na silang makuha 'Sige nga subukan natin, bigyan mo ng mic 'yan. Ito yung basahin mo,'" he said.

Satisfied with his work, the production got him as the official substitute to the original voice-over talent whenever needed.

Raffy also shared that most of his unforgettable experiences as a journalist would be his assignments in the warfield.

Fully aware of the dangers of covering war, he would always study the place and take necessary precautions to secure his safety as well as his team.

Raffy is married to fellow Kapuso reporter Mariz Umali.
