You might be too engrossed with a new activity, dedicating time in your sport, or may simply be getting old. One thing all these share in common is they may cause you body pain.
You then look forward to your trip to the spa but later on, you'd find out that no hours spent on the massage bed can reduce the stress on your body.
If you've been experiencing lasting pain, maybe it's time to try another form of therapy.
Angela Borras, a sports injury specialist certified by the National Exercise and Sports Trainer Association, explains why blading is the better therapy treatment compared to getting a massage.
She introduces, “Blading is something na ginagamit na in general as a way to help recover muscles. It's an alternative to your deep tissue massage.
“Blading is different kasi mas anatomical at physiological 'yung target niya. So we induce blood circulation by doing friction. Kasi 'di ba pag nagpi-friction ka doon sa parts na sobrang tight, nagkakaroon siya ng hitting doon sa muscle and the blade. Para kang nag-i-induce ng artificial na pasa. Kasi if there's the area na super tight, walang blood flow doon. So pag nag-scrape ka, nag-i-increase 'yung blood flow doon sa tight area. Then, it relaxes,” she further explains.
Angela also emphasizes on the advantages of this kind of therapy treatment.

According to Angela, she personally prefers doing blading because the treatment is not strenuous for both the therapist and the patient.
She says, “It has become a tool of choice because first, hindi siya sobrang taxing sa therapist kasi you have a tool with you.
“Ang favorite part ko doon, hindi feeling bugbog 'yung patient the next day. Kasi alam natin pag manual therapy, the next day parang feeling nila nagulpi sila,” she also adds.
Only those who are certified are allowed to conduct blading therapy. This specialized training provides physical therapist an understanding of the complaints and condition of their patients, and thus provide appropriate solutions.
Angela explains, “The fact na you are trained to do it, 'yung intervention mo mas specific. So halimbawa you have pain on your shoulder and you use the blade, we know why we are going to use the blade for your shoulder pain. Ang alam natin sa spa, ang goal nila palagi is just to relax you. So even it's deep tendon, ang goal pa rin noon ay relaxation. Pero ang client ang gusto sana nila ay mag-loosen up.
“Since the blade is designed to be flat compared sa kamay ng tao, pag nagta-try ka mag-break down ng specific points sa muscles na tight, mas mabilis siya nakukuha. Mas malalim 'yung kaya niyang abutin,” she continues.
Since only those with certification and proper training conduct blading therapy, they possess enough knowledge and experience to help you identify what caused your body pain.
Angela illustrates the origin of pain, saying, “Pag nag-assess ka doon sa area of concern, doon din sa pinakanagpe-petechiae or nagre-red, alam mo na 'yun 'yung part na for the longest time walang blood supply.”
Getting a blading therapy may cause some discomfort but it's definitely worth a try! #NoPainNoGain!
