Tyra Banks is a big fan of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
She was among the famous personalities who raved about Catriona's trending “lava walk” and “slow-mo” twirl during the competition.
Catriona Gray's slow-mo twirl has Tyra Banks saying 'Pinoy Power to the Max!'
So, it can only be apt to say that the model and the titleholder were both overflowing with excitement when they spoke over the phone for V Magazine.
Tyra interviewed Catriona for the magazine's current issue.
In fact, the famous “lava walk” was the first to be mentioned and re-mentioned during the phone interview.
Based on the excerpts, the beauty queen was then in Indonesia.
The supermodel said, “Well, good afternoon from California. I'm still recovering from your “Lava Walk” at the Miss Universe pageant.
“I just kept watching and rewatching, like, What's her secret? I was totally fangirling!
“Well, your walk, and how you arched your back, was amazing. But I heard you have a medical condition [having to do] with your back, right?”
Catriona graciously replied, “Yeah, I have scoliosis. It hasn't really hindered me at all, except after long day in heels when I do particularly feel it in my posture muscles.”
Tyra Banks to Catriona Gray: 'OMG back at you! You did it!'
Meanwhile, Catriona described this opportunity with Tyra as a “pinch-me moment.”
On one of her posts, Miss Universe 2018 said, “Flooding my feed 'cause I'm super giddy. It's been hard keeping [silent] about this! Definitely a pinch-me moment!”
The short article also mentioned Catriona's perspective on finding the silver lining in every situation as well as her advocacy on free education, especially for the kids in Tondo, Manila.
The Filipino-Australian beauty says, “I started after I had taken over as breadwinner for my family at the age of 20.
“It was a big responsibility that I just wasn't ready for and I felt so much pressure having to provide as a model, which can be very sporadic work.
“I was down about my situation, and attempting to escape it by turning to charity work.
“I found a charity, the one I continue to work with, called Young Focus Philippines.
“It's based in the Tondo neighborhood of Manila...I had never experienced poverty first hand, and it impacted me so hard.
“So, we work giving free schooling to these children.
“Education is a solution to poverty; it's something you can give a child that can never be taken away.”
