"The notebook has since become a sort of receptacle for more letters and notes and cards and such, because through the years and on many different days and in many different ways, he would send that kind of lovin' my way --- postcards when he is far away, scribbled notes that he would hand me from across the room or a table in a restaurant, cards for just no reason (or occasion) at all, letters that arrive by snail mail. Random sweetness from my unconventional man."
