Manolo Pedrosa describes his two-year break from showbiz: “I was very in a low point of my life.”

Before Manolo Pedrosa became a Kapuso actor, he was gone in showbiz for about two years.

In an interview with GMANetwork.com after the media conference of The Color Run Hero Tour 2018 earlier, the 21-year-old celebrity revealed the he suffered from intense pain due to bulging disc.

“I suffered from bulging disc, ang hirap lumakad. Parang I'm a 16-year-old living in 70-year-old body,” he said.

He then recalled the day he first experienced the pain, “Bigla na lang nangyari siya noong nagte-taping ako.

“Noong nagte-taping ako, bigla na lang lumabas yung pain and I couldn't take anymore. I was like, 'Argh! Sorry, direk.'

“I went home with agonizing pain.

“Then, tuluy-tuloy na yun--I couldn't workout, I couldn't walk properly.”

According to physioworks.com.au, a bulging disc or commonly referred to as slipped disc “is a common spine injury sustained to your spine's intervertebral disc. It can occur in your lumbar spine (lower back), thoracic spine (upper and mid-back) or your cervical spine (neck).”

Because of his situation, the Pamilya Roces star admitted, “Tumaba ako, and that left me unsustainable to work for showbiz.”

Manolo said his weight at that time was “as high as 250 lbs. I was really obese.”

The doctor suggested to Manolo to undergo surgery to treat his bulging disc.

But Manalo opted for a natural way to overcome it.

“Of course, I want to keep my back as natural as possible.

“What I did was incorporate healthy habits, good workout, diet.

“I worked hard for two years to get in this shape and here I am now.”

Now, Manolo is feeling healthier at 175 lbs.

He said, “I am grateful to be here, kasi yun nga, two years of hard work and now, I'm currently maintaining and improving my body.”

Manolo admitted that during that time, “I was very in a low point of my life.”

He thought he couldn't go back to showbiz anymore, so he diverted his attention to studies.

“I think I would say na I am happy na I took a break.

“Hindi naman na parang wala akong ginawa, nag-schooling din ako, I learned a lot--not just in school but I also learned a lot about myself and the world,” he said.

He also mentioned, “I wanted talaga to finish school, that was my dream talaga.

“Kasi, siyempre, promise ko rin sa parents ko. Siyempre, number one dream ko rin is to set up my own business and become an entrepreneur.”

However, while on his second year in Entrepreneurial Management course at the University of Asia and the Pacific, Manolo couldn't help but think about showbiz.

He recalled, “Parang na-realize ko na lang na I want to act.

“Parang it's also my passion to act and making people happy.

“I called up my manager and asked, 'Sir Jun [Reyes], can I go back to showbiz?' Then, here I am now.”

Manolo said he's ready to take on more challenges on his showbiz comeback.

“I became more mature and, siyempre, that translated din sa acting.

“Yun, learning how to deal with other people din also and also helps the chemistry between my co-actors,” he ended.
