The mixed martial arts expert was frustrated over the ignorance of some people and lack of information about pit bulls.
Filipino-American mixed martial arts fighter Brandon Vera took to Facebook to express his disappointment over the policy of a certain condominium when it comes to a special breed of dog.
In his Facebook post on October 24, Brandon shared that he received a letter from Fairways Tower Condominium Corporation about his pitbull.
The letter reads that the condominium operators received numerous complaints from the building's residents about Brandon’s pitbull.
“Residents are so scared of the dog particularly the parents and the old ones because of his size and look. They are so worried and started to ask the Administration Office what guaranty and protection can we give to them to assure they are safe to live in this building most especially the children,” he said.
The condominium operator also stressed in the letter that “pitbull are more of a fighting dog rather than a domestic dog.”
Brandon was flabbergasted while he read the letter. According to him, “Out of the blue.... we received this letter about our dogs. (They have their own Instagram @roninandloki) We were approved to move here before we left from the states, all certifications, usda stamps, veterinarian stuffs, pictures...etc..”
“No incidents ever, no problems ever, we clean up after them and yell at people who don't clean up after their pets,” he added.
The mixed martial arts expert also was frustrated over the ignorance of some people and lack of information about the behavior of pit bulls.
“This my Kababayan shows the complete ignorance of some folks. My favorite line here is “‘as we all know pit bulls are more of a fighting dog than a domestic dog.’”
He also revealed that he is planning to take a legal action about this incident, “Just a heads up my lawyer sent a letter over to your board Fairways, lawsuit to follow. Not the Security Guards or Workers ang bait nyo. Y'all always said hi to the dogs and even took photos with them, we'll miss y'all Ingat.”
Carla Abellana shows support
Brandon found an ally in Ismol Family actress Carla Abellana. An animal rights advocate herself, Carla said in a social media post that she was saddened about what happened and encouraged people to spread the truth about pit bulls in order to dispel their bad reputation.
“I don't blame the residents for believing the pitbull's bad reputation though. In fact, i pity them. They just really need to be informed about the truth that pit bulls are among the kindest breeds for families with children. That's a fact. They also need to know that pit bulls have a more tolerable temperament compared to golden retrievers. It's very unfortunate people remain to be unaware.”
She added, “It's even more unfortunate that pit bulls are given such an unfair kind of treatment. Spread the word and truth about pit bulls. Don't believe their bad reputation. Educate others. Be informed.
