Becoming older and taking on a new role as a mother, Queenie Padilla has come to some realizations about her body image and she wishes to inspire other women about being body-positive.
In her Instagram post, Queenie claimed that she had a distorted impression of beauty when she was a teenager.
“I was born with a curvy body which meant that I had to work much harder because I would look bigger on camera. I was so insecure and delusional that I would buy clothes a size down, thinking that it would motivate me to lose the weight,” she explained.
“I’ve had skin problems, If I didn’t have an asthma attack, I would get rashes all over my body. So I was constantly having peeling treatments to make the marks go away,” she also added.
She admitted to resorting to self-blame for all her flaws before.
Queenie shared, “When I would hear brutal comments about my weight, teeth and my skin I used to think to myself. Is it my fault that I was born with this body? Is it my fault that my skin is so sensitive?”
She later figured that she shouldn’t be focusing too much on the negativity. And this is what she wants her fellow women to realize.
“Focus on what you have been blessed with. Nobody’s perfect. Everyone has their strengths and weakness. Embrace them. You are you. Think about the good things you can do to make an impact in the world. Be productive. Make your dreams come true. It’s okay to be a size 10-12, you don’t need to be a size 8 to be beautiful,” a part of her message read.
“To all the teenagers including my daughter someday, be confident in who you are. Embrace your flaws and more importantly just as much as you want to beautify your physical self, don’t forget about beautifying your inner self,” she concluded.
