Shamcey Supsup recounts the struggles she had to go through when she gave birth for the second time.
According to Shamcey, she was torn between giving birth via C-section or via a vaginal birth after a C-section delivery.
Aside from that dilemma, she and her husband Lloyd Lee were also surprised to find out that her obstetrician would be away on her 39th week, her expected date of delivery.
“My choices were to have the CS before she leaves or be referred to another to perform the VBAC.
“In the end, Lloyd and I agreed that we will let mother nature decide and not to set any date,” she said.
On her 38th week, when she was to be introduced to her doctor's reliever, she experienced contractions.
She was, however, advised that she was not yet ready to give birth. In that same evening, the pain got worse and Shamcey requested her husband to rush her to the hospital.
Since the doctors weren't really expecting her, they were only able to attend to her after an hour or so.
“By 11:30pm I was fully dilated so the whole team began preparing for the delivery.
“With the positive encouragement from everyone in the delivery room, especially Lloyd who's assuring me and telling me my progress through every push, I heard the doctor say, 'The baby's head is out, one more push for the shoulders.' And I gave 1 big push and then our son was out and placed on my tummy,” she recounted.
“It was pure joy to see him that I did not even notice the delivery of the placenta and the stitching of my tear.
“During that time I realized that sometimes we plan too much, try to control everything in our life but sometimes we just have to let go and let God work his miracles coz His plans are always better than ours,” Shamcey concluded.
