The former MTV VJ host, who became one of the most-sought after actors both in movies and TV, gave credit to Judy Ann Santos for giving him the opportunity to become her leading man when he was just a newbie.
The two actors worked together in the soap titled 'Ysabella' in 2007.
Derek explained, “I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for this woman [Judy Ann Santos].
“She accepted me to be her leading man, when she is a big star at that time I was nobody.”
“And with open arms she accepted me to be her leading man.”
