Thea Tolentino has breathed life into some of the most hated characters of GMA Afternoon Prime. Her effective portrayals have undoubtedly cemented her to be this generation's leading kontrabida.
To name a few, Thea played the roles of the despicable Ashley Mercado-Alcantara in The Half Sisters, the witchy Lucille Bermudez in Haplos, and the deceitful transwoman Venus Bravante in Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko.
Despite the number of roles that made us disapprove and glare at her, Thea remains unfazed. In fact, she is set to return to the small screen to portray another kontrabida character, this time in Madrasta.

The young actress is soon to play a social climber and image model of an aesthetic clinic via the upcoming Kapuso drama. She was a shoo-in for the role because she has long proven her success in similar portrayals.
Asked about being this generation's leading kontrabida, Thea couldn't help but gush.
She said, “Nakakakilig kasi 'pag nadidinig ko 'yun, isa 'yun sa nakakapag-boost din ng confidence ko na okey 'yung ginagawa ko.”
Thea admitted that she prefers playing antagonist roles.
“Nung Pyra dati, sobrang bait ng character ko, parang hindi ako tao. Tapos nung binigyan ako ng kontrabida [roles], ayan tao na ako. Lahat ng tao may dark side,” she explained.
She also added how she enjoys providing different personalities to her hateful characters.
“Actually mas masayang paglaruan ang kontrabida kasi pwede mong gawin 'yung iba't ibang hairstyle. Pag bida kasi laging pa-sweet or something na hindi loud,” she said.
