Here are three things to remember in looking for the best foundation for your face.

Foundation is one of the basics in cosmetics and the main goal of using it is to make your skin look smooth and glowing. Most foundations last long with only a small amount to create a layer over your face. So, to avoid wasting money, you need to look for a brand that perfectly suits your needs requirements. Here are a few ways to finding the best foundation for your face.

1. Determine your skin type

You need to know your skin type and skin issues so you can choose a formula that will not irritate your skin.

For oily skin, a noncomedogenic powder foundation or matte types are less likely to clog your pores and can help cover up oiliness. Dry skin types can benefit from the moisture that comes from cream or liquid foundation. Hypoallergenic or mineral foundations work well with sensitive skin types as they contain less harsh chemicals.

2. Know your shade

Using the right foundation shade for your skin is a must if you want to avoid uneven foundation shades and having a face full of makeup that looks lighter than the rest of your body. Your shade can depend on your skin's undertones. If you have veins that are a visible blue or pink in color you might have cool undertones. Green veins mean you have warm undertones and a combination of different colored veins means you have neutral undertones.

3. Test the foundation

Before buying a foundation, make sure you already know your skin type and shade then proceed to dab a little foundation on your face and neck. Wait a little while to see if the foundation oxidizes quickly. Makeup oxidizing will look like the shade got darker. According to Project Vanity, minerals like titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and iron oxide are often found in makeup and if the foundation shows a high content of these, most likely it'll oxidize quickly on your skin. Regardless of your skin color or type, testing a foundation first before buying one is best so you can see how your skin reacts to it.

Happy foundation hunting!
